SCOT meets twice per year at the AAP meetings. The meetings attempt to present a scientific session in which people describe projects involving information technology. At the fall meeting, there is also a Section presentation on a certain topic; last month it was on multimedia, and the year before that it was on electronic medical records.
SCOT is also heavily involved in organizing the Computer Lab at AAP meetings, where AAP members can learn about computers hands-on. We also present educational sessions to the membership on a wide variety of topics (Internet, medical records, etc.). SCOT has a newsletter that comes out three times per year, a mailing list, a Web site, and a forum on Physicians' Online.
Basically, SCOT is a group of techies and techi-wannabees who have a good time learning from each other about practical uses of computers in pediatrics. The more the merrier -- sign up if it sounds good to you!
