Position title: Fellowship in Neonatal Neurology and Brain Development. Start date: August/September 2008. The George Washington University is offering a non-accredited fellowship in Neonatal Neurology and Brain Development. The goal of this fellowship program is to train a pediatrician to be able to properly diagnose and manage patients of the neonatal age group with neurological and brain development concerns. This fellowship offers combined clinical and research training in the area of the neonatal brain. The fellow will conduct research in the area of neonatal brain, neurophysiology or infant neurodevelopmental follow up. During training, the fellow will have exposure to neonatal neurology examination, neurodevelopmental follow-up examination, ultrasound head scans, MRI and aEEG. In addition, the fellow will have an opportunity to manage in a level III Neonatal ICU using the concept of gentle ventilation, the use of bubble CPAP, HFOV, iNO...etc. The didactic teaching component of the program will include attending grand rounds and teaching rounds of the Pediatric Department, Obstetric Department, Neonatal-Perinatal Division and Neuro-Radiology Division.
