The Department of Pediatrics at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island (WIH) is seeking a staff neonatologist to work full-time in a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). There are 1,200 deliveries annually at the affiliated hospital which is located in a pleasant coastal community in Southern Massachusetts. The physician will also work in the Level III unit at WIH. We deliver over 9,600 infants per year of which over 1,250 are admitted to the NICU. There are active, NIH funded programs in developmental biology, lung and placental biology, endocrinology, developmental neurobiology, reproductive immunology and neurodevelopmental follow up. There is extensive use of HFV, NO. We are a member of the NICHD Neonatal Research Network. We have begun construction of a new 80 bed NICU which is designed for single family accommodation only and which will open September 2009. Among other state-of-the-art design features is a CERNER MillenniumTm hospital-wide info! rmatics system. This will allow us to incorporate the newest advancements in electronic health record keeping, data management, evidence-based clinical decision schemes, and innovative quality and safety initiatives. There is the opportunity for a clinical appointment in the Brown University Alpert Medical School. Minimum requirements include: Board certification in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine; strong clinical background in neonatal-perinatal care, excellence in patient care, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
