Last year, our admissions were approximately 80% inborn. We serve as the referral hospital to outside (NICU) nurseries in the metroplex (including the NICU’s in our Hospital system.) Neonatal transports performed by the Neonatal Transport team and are not required for Neonatal Nurse Practitioner role. The active inpatient delivery service includes both academic and private perinatology coverage.
Expectations are for direct care for level 3 (extreme premature, PPHN, surgical and nonsurgical, cardiac patients) and level 2 patients on rotating basis, attendance of deliveries and performance of procedures. As an academic neonatology division we are actively involved in clinical research and have been a member of NICHD Neonatal Network since 1997. Our nursery practices family centered care and evidence based medical care practices.
