The special services provided at this unit include:
* Care and treatment of extremely low birth weight, critically ill, and neonatal cardiac infants.
* Transport services available 24 hours a day
* State-of-the-art technologies including ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) and inhaled nitric oxide
* Team concept of caring for patients
* Discharge follow-up for patients with special needs
* Continuing education program
Children’s Specialists of San Diego, Division of Neonatology provides Level I, II and III neonatal services both on-site and on a consultative basis at various affiliated hospitals throughout San Diego, Imperial and Riverside Counties. A full scope of services and treatments is available to patients ranging from well newborns to the most critically ill neonates.
