The Division of Neonatology at the University of Iowa has July 2009 fellowship openings for our academically oriented Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program. Our program offers a wide range of outstanding training opportunities both in clinical neonatology and in perinatal research. Applicants must 1) be currently enrolled in, or have successfully completed, an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program, and 2) be U.S. a U.S. Citizen, permanent residents (i.e., “green card” holders), or a foreign nationals holding a J-1, J-2, or H1b visa. We are one of only 9 NPM programs with NIH T32 institutional grant support for research training and one of the 16 participating university program participants in the NIH Neonatal Network. Accordingly, acceptance to our NPM program is dependent on the applicant's interest in and potential for a successful career in academic neonatology. Our fellows care for 800 to 900 critically ill newborns each year in our state-of-the-art 70-bed NICU. Since 1990, 100 percent of the 24 trainees completing our program have passed the ABP Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine subspecialty exam on their first attempt. Applicants invited for an on campus interview will be reimbursed for their travel. The University of Iowa is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Women and members of underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply.
